adjetivos (“adhetibos”)

– agree in gender and number with subject (noun, pronoun, or noun phrase)

Ending -o or -a (m or f), adds -s for plural:

el coche rojo (masc. sing.); los coches rojos (masc.  plur.)

la casa blanca (f); las casas blancas (f pl)

una cerveza alemana

estoy encantado/encantada de conocerlo – I’m pleased to meet you (male/female)

¿Cómo es? – what is he/she/it like?

... es ...

... bueno/a, malo/a – good, bad

... plurals → buenos, buenas, etc.

... some drop o before singular masculine noun, e.g., ¡buen viaje! – bon voyage!

... e.g., bajo – short; alto – tall; ancho – broad, wide; largo – long; gordo – fat; delgado – slim; guapo – handsome, attractive; feo – ugly, ungraceful; simpático – friendly; aplicado – diligent; moreno – dark hair, also dark skin; rubio – blonde; viejo – old

¡qué bonito! – how nice!

Ending ista is the same for both m & f, add -s for plural:

un chico optimista – an optimistic boy

unas chicas optimistas – some optimistic girls

Soy un poco perfeccionista... – I am a little perfectionist ...

Ending -e is the same for both m & f, add -s for plural:

... grande – big; inteligente – intelligent; responsable – responsible; importante – important; amable – pleasant, kind

... plurals → grandes, etc.

Ending –consonant add -a for f, -es or -as for plurals, and drop any preceding accent for f and plurals:

inglésinglesa, ingleses, inglesas

una chica trajabadora – a hard-working girl
