la puerta quedó abierta – the door stayed (was left) open

la discusión quedó aquí – the discussion ended (stayed) here

nos quedamos en un hotel en Llanes – we stayed in a hotel in Llanes

allí quedaría bien un cuadro – a picture would look nice (stay/fit well) there

quedan tres piñas – there are three pineapples left

To be

¿por dónde queda? – where is it?  (where does it stay?)

queda mucho que hacer – there’s a lot to be done  (it remains much to do)

quedar en – to agree to

quedamos en volver más tarde – we agreed to come back later

quedamos en el bar a las diez – we agreed to (meet at) the bar at ten o’clock

quedar por + infinitive – ‘to be ..’?

quedan esos platos por lavar – there are still those dishes to be washed up  (for washing)

quedar + gerund – to be, remain

cuando me fui el niño quedaba durmiendo – when I left the child was (still) sleeping

quedarse – (reflexive) to remain, stay

Juan se ha quedado en casa – Juan stayed at home

nos quedamos sin dinero – we ran out of money

me detuve ahí con mi boca abierta por dos minutos – I stopped there with my jaw dropped for two minutes

quédese con el cambio – keep the change  (quedarse con – to keep)

me quedo con los pantalones cortos – I keep the shorts
